Helen, the good Helen
A few weeks ago Helen went on vacation, and guess what she brought all the way down to the Virgin Islands from Ann Arbor? Yes! Alfajores! Check out the gorgeous pictures! One of the things I admire the most from Helen is her constant smile; one of the things I envy the most about her is how fit and healthy she looks and is! The secret? She eats good things (I can do that!) and she runs (I stopped doing that around 15 years ago…). Well, thanks to Helen’s inspiration, and against all odds, a couple of mornings ago I put on sneakers, and I ran. Too bad I had to stop after 7 minutes… I thought I was going to die. But hey! Who said it was going to be easy! I’m an expert in getting myself into difficult things! A little more than a year ago, I started a small business that had no shape at all… little by little, with an enormous amount of personal and community effort, I made it to this point, where my Maitelates are recommended in national magazines and TV shows! (go and get the April issue of Cooking Light, they look SO CUTE!!!) Therefore, if my Alfajores were able to get to this point, my body will be able to run a Marathon one day… With, that thought in mind and with tons of good advice from another couple of favorite Arboritans, I got up today, put on my sneakers, and ran. This time, I made it to 18 minutes and didn’t die! I wish you could see my smile… Thanks Helen!!!!! Thanks Barbara!!!! Thanks Michael!!!!!!!!

Go Maitelates Go!!!
“Sweet Taste from South America”...... “Swapping Thin Mints for Maitelates”..... “Unpronounceable and delicious.....”
IS THIS REALLY HAPPENING???????
From my favorite local newspaper The Ann Arbor Chronicle, to the fantastic online reviewer Delish.com… all the way down to the national mention in Cooking Light next to Martha Stewart’s dishes… Rocking? ROCKING!!!!!!!!!
The hard work is paying off, and the soul of the maker is even more motivated!! Watch out Maitelates lovers!
“Are you in a rush ma’am?” asked the policeman the other day through my window… “I live in a rush sir, a good one though”. He didn’t get it… and I did get a ticket. Still the smile on my face was intact. And Pedro got to meet a real officer in person… “the police the police mom!”
Life is way too short … every moment is a good opportunity to meet someone awesome, to hear a great story, or to enjoy a cute picture. Every instant of life is precious.
Go enjoy yours with a good piece of sweetness brought from the roots of South America and mixed with local freshness, premium ingredients, supportive community and great family!
GO Maitelates GO!

Thank you!
Thank You. On behalf of Ann Arbor, I'm making a deposit on Monday for $1,050.00 to “Un Techo para Chile”. AMAZING .
That amount of money will build at least one house for an entire family… and even though that family might never meet you, they’ll know forever that no one is alone, that behind each individual in pain, there is ALWAYS someone willing to give a hand.
In a week, Chile suffered a double earthquake: one, coming from the earth, and the other one, moving the hearts of so many, showing that there's so much hope and so much beauty among the humanity… that there are amazing people everywhere....
After a living nightmare, Chile showed the world that it is a country with an incomparable heart that, while suffering, will stand up once again and will always be ready to help no matter what.
Thank you Ann Arbor for being a part of this recovery.
Our families and friends will be eternally grateful for the response of Ann Arbor to our call. $1,050 is an impressive amount of money that will always remind us how beautiful the world is when hearts arise and join forces.
All the best for you and your families,
Matias, Pedro and Maite
Thanks for your generosity!!!!!
